K/1 Life in a Log Cabin (limited to September, May and June)
Students will experience various aspects of life in a log cabin (c. 1900). Specific content is dependent on availability of specialized materials and presenters. Be sure to book well in advance for this program.2/3 The Village of Chase: Then and Now
Come with us on a walking tour of downtown Chase. Learn to use observation skills and visual cues to locate buildings and businesses in historic photographs. Each student will use copies of historic photographs to create his/her own booklet of Chase of 100 years ago.

Use Primary Research Methods to follow early settlers on their journeys to the Western Shuswap region of British Columbia. Students will have access to copies of genuine archival materials such as journals and letters held by the Chase & District Museum.5 & 6 Flumes, Booms and Sawdust
Explore the development and history of the logging industry in the Shuswap. Teachers may choose to have their students visit the Adams River Lumber company exhibit at the Chase Museum and engage in a number of educational activities related to Logging in the Shuswap. They may also choose to have their students visit our on-line exhibit Flumes, Booms and Sawdust: Logging in the Shuswap recently launched on the Virtual Museum of Canada - Community Memories Project.7 Relics or Rocks?: Archaelogical Explorations of the Secwepemc People
This program provides students with an introduction to the field of archaeology and Shuswap pre-contact history. Students will be given the opportunity for a hands-on experience while learning more about local First Nations.K through 7: The Games People Played
This fun program is designed to introduce today’s students to the games played by their forefathers. It will give students opportunities to interact with their elders, to develop new kinds of physical and mental skills, to teach their peers new games and to experience games without conflict which are suited to a wide variety of environments. This unit can be applied within the school setting which ideally will culminate in a school wide Heritage Games Event.8 – 12 Footprints: Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow – Paving Your Way to the Future
This special program provides an opportunity for Secondary Students in Chase to pave their paths to the future by learning more about our collective past with the help of the Chase & District Museum & Archives. Students from Grades 8 – 12 are invited to submit presentations on various aspects of Chase History, Geography and Culture in each of their Secondary School years. All entries will be judged by a panel of experts and one bursary will be awarded to each grade each year. Students will be eligible to win multiple times. The total bursary earned by each student will be awarded as a lump sum when the student has enrolled in any full time post-secondary education program. Copies of student presentations will be preserved in the archives of the Chase & District Museum.
